RE: YOUR WORK WITH GREENHOUSE GAS INTENSIVE CLIENTS

Publicly available information has shown that your agency has worked with an organisation to promote the social licence, reputation or expansion of fossil fuels.

Because of this, you are listed on our website as an organisation that is contributing to the creation of a dangerous climate.

Comms Declare represents more than 300 communications professionals and 70 organisations that want our industry to be respected, ethical and on the right side of history. We join doctors, vets, engineers, architects, builders, teachers and many more professions who refuse to be part of the climate problem.

The planet could reach 1.5 degrees average warming on pre-industrial levels by 2024. At that time, we will see more extreme weather, food insecurity and mass extinctions on land and sea. Coal, gas and petroleum account for around 65% of the world’s greenhouse gases. And Australia’s combined domestic and exported emissions are responsible for around 5% of the world’s carbon dioxide – on par with Russia.

Working with high polluting clients will damage your ability to recruit and retain younger staff as well as open you up to growing regulatory and legal risks.

We are asking you to reconsider promoting fossil fuels.

If we have listed you in error, or you wish to discuss this important issue, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours Sincerely

Belinda Noble
