The Kennedy Foundation is proud to welcome climate communications charity Comms Declare as a new partner in this year’s Kennedy Awards, further
strengthening the Foundation’s commitment to recognising excellence in Australian journalism.
Representing more than 100 organisations and hundreds of communications professionals across Oceania, Comms Declare brings a powerful and values-driven voice to the Kennedy community.
The organisation has pledged not to promote fossil fuels and is dedicated to advancing more responsible, sustainable communication practices.
As part of this new partnership, Comms Declare will sponsor the Outstanding Reporting on Climate and the Environment award, a category that continues to grow in importance as
journalists navigate one of the defining issues of our time.
Founder of Comms Declare, Belinda Noble, said the organisation was proud to support the recognition of impactful journalism in this space.
“We’re thrilled to be sponsoring an award that recognises journalists who contribute to a deeper public understanding of climate change and the environment, ” she said.
Describing its mission, Comms Declare positions itself as a progressive force in promoting sustainable communication — driven by a belief in the power of storytelling to create positive cultural change and help shape a safer, healthier future for people and the planet.
“Quality journalism is essential to equip Australians to navigate a heating and less stable environment, particularly in the face of mounting misinformation and corporate spin, ” Ms Noble added.
Kennedy Foundation General Manager, Anna Magnus, welcomed Comms Declare to the Foundation’s growing network of partners. “In a complex and rapidly changing media landscape, it’s incredibly encouraging to see organisations like Comms Declare stepping forward to support independent, high-quality journalism, ” Ms Magnus said.
“This partnership reflects a shared belief in the critical role journalism plays in informing the public and strengthening our communities.”
The Kennedy Awards are among Australia’s most respected journalism honours, celebrating excellence across all media platforms and supporting the next generation of journalists through the Foundation’s scholarship programs.
