Comms Declare has made a complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) about claims Jemena has made about so-called ‘renewable gas’.
The ‘renewable gas’ and ‘go natural gas’ campaigns promote hydrogen and biomethane products as alternatives to conventional ‘natural’ or fossil gas.
They are represented as lower-cost alternatives to natural gas, producing low or no climate pollution and as being compatible with existing gas network infrastructure.
Our complaint, made with the help of the Environmental Defenders Office, argues that the products are not practically or environmentally viable and encourage the continued use of high emissions fossil fuels.
